How deep do I need to plant my wisteria plants ?

First may I ask where you are planting her.

There are a few point I want to make before you plant her.

Do NOT plant her in the ground next to your house. You want her around 12 feet away at least.

I'll explain why.

Wisterias are extremely fast growers with really strong large root systems. Their root grow wide and deep.

They damage sewer systems underground irrigation, water pipes, you name it.

They have a history of damaging the foundations of homes. Will work their way into any crevice or crack they can find. Fences will be pulled apart and the list goes on.

They are absolutely stunning. Personally I love them at a distance. I just wanted to make you aware BEFORE you plant her. So that you use extreme caution in her placement.

There was one in my yard when we moved in about 14 feet from our house. We had removed her after she pulled out fence boards about 7 years ago. Before she could damage our cement patio. To this day we are still trying to keep her at bay. She tries to pop up at new locations around our house CONSTANTLY. It is a never ending battle because she will pop up 20 plus feet from her last location. They have an incredible ability to travel far distances.

That being said. I recommend pot to keep her contained. I would use a decent sized pot because like I said they grow incredibly fast and have huge root systems. That way if you want to change your mind you can. ❤️
