What is happening with my needle cactus?

#EvesNeedle
6โ€ pot without drainage
Last watered 8 months ago
Is the soil wet because I had that happen once and it was because it was overwatered
@Freaksarebusy no, I only water every 3 weeks.
Did you recently fertilize it ? Or does it have fungus gnats ?
Oops! @Freaksarebusy is right on the nose. This little guy is overwatered. You can chop and prop some of it in an attempt to save it.
Even if you water once every three weeks, the soil can still hold in moisture and the plant can become overwatered especially if there's not a hole in the bottom of the pot.
I have quite a few pots of these from a mother plant I accidently "over waterered" I say it in quotes because I swear I watered it ONCE.. however they apparently hate water or attention. I haven't watered mine since I chopped the rot off over a month ago and I'm afraid to ๐Ÿ˜† I do have a pot I have watered as experiment, it's a 3 in pot. I only dip in water for like 5 minutes and let it drain, only when the soil is extremely dry, last time i watered the little prior to this watering was almost two months andall seems well with the little one.. but not a lot of water at all, bottom water only.
