What is wrong with my gerbera?
Hello! New plant parent here. Can you please help me figure out what this white residue is on my gerbera and what should I do? I tried to wipe it off with water and sponge, but it didnโt work much. Is this the dreaded fungus? What should I do?
It's powdery mildew. Caused by low air circulation and often misting.
1. Isolate your plant the spores can spread to other plants.
2. Cut off the most affected leaves, that will help you elimanate most of the spores. Discard in a garbage bag.
3. Treat entire plant tops and bottoms of leaves stems all of it with neem oil. Spray it down thoroughly until it's running off the plant.
4. Water with your ne oil mix to kill off any spores that fell into the soil. Water until the neem runs out of the bottom of the pot. I
5. Treat weekly until you see no new formations of the mildew.
To avoid it increase your air circulation with a fan. It tens to happen when there is not enough air flow around your plants. Never mist.
