When my pitcher plant 's pitcher is closed does that mean...
2ft to light, indirect
2β pot with drainage
Last watered 1 week ago
Hi Lisa,
Iβve only done a small amount of research on carnivorous plants. But from what Iβve learned, pitcher plants arenβt supposed to close, say like a Venus fly trap does. They actually start with their βlidβ closed, and it opens and stays open as it matures.
Their pitfall traps filled with liquid are designed for insects to fall inside. So the βlidβ should never close as it should have constant access to insects.
Your pitcher could be drying out, going from age, or reacting to stress.
Have you moved its location? Changed lighting?
