My jasmine plant is budding but not blossoming. I live in...
14β pot with drainage
Last watered 9 months ago
@LeadZelkova26 Hi Laura how long have you had it ? They generally take six months to a year to start pushing flowers. It can also bloom a few times a year. If you plan on moving it inside for the winter it will need a close second to the light itβs receiving. Good luck it beautiful
Hello! Thanks for answering! Itβs around seven months. It blossomed once but the buds keep falling off of all the rest of them @ILoveMyPlants
@LeadZelkova26 I was struggling with my Jasmine plant but I found that it if I water her every day/every other day she blooms/grows better. Jasmine prefers moist soil I guess? Iβm also in Massachusetts so climate is different. Watch for pests too because they eat the buds!! I made a spray to put on it to deter pests. I also used tiger bloom because the phosphorus and potassium helps the flowers more than the green. Or you can amend the soil, but im not well versed in that. Hope this helps!!!!
@FeralFran thank you! Iβll try that this winter when I bring her in. I read phosphorus helps. I do a potassium and calcium (eggshells Iβve ground down) mixture. I have been using neem oils and havenβt noticed any visible pests or fungus.
@LeadZelkova26 I found the home made spray helped my plants thrive more and the neem oil was a little aggressive- maybe it was in my head but I feel like they didnβt do as well when I was using neem oil vs home made spray. (I did garlic/hot pepper mashed up and soaked in water. Strain it so thereβs no bits, add some dishsoap and youβre done! Spray a leaf or two first to make sure your plant likes it, and then spray in the afternoon when itβs cooler out so the leaves donβt get scorched; reapply after heavy rain or multiple rain showers) Some flies enjoyed the spray a lot but they eventually went away as the strength of the smell decreased (we also have a fly trap anyway)
