How often do I water my new moon cactus? I'm new to gardening indoors.
2ft to light, indirect
2โ pot with drainage
Last watered 2 days ago
Let the soil completely dry out. Cactus are desert plants, so they can't handle sitting in damp soil. When in doubt, it's always better to underwater then overwater. It will also need at least 3-4 hours of DIRECT sunlight to survive, so place it directly in a west or south facing window (no curtains or other obstructions to block the suns rays).
By the way, moon cactus is actually two separate plants. The red one on top has been grafted on the bottom one (a dragon fruit cactus). Because the red plant lacks chlorophyll, it would die without the bottom plant. The red one will eventually start to wither and die off. It's just inevitable with grafted plants. But you can continue caring for the dragon fruit cactus! They can live for a very long time and get quite big with proper care ๐
