A little bit sad, I’ve had this snake plant since 2018 and it was the first plant I kept alive and had visible growth. About 1.5 years ago I repotted it am still learning. I definitely repotted in a container that was too BIG. I also ended up doing a combo of LECA and soil (big layer of LECA, layer of soil/LECA combo, soil on top). I repotted it yesterday and the roots only went down to the soil level and only had about two inches of roots. I ended up propagating into 3 separate plants. It could have been a lot worse, there’s new growth on each plant and I know they’ll do well in their new pots but I’m sad to see my first big baby go back to being small babies.
1ft to light, indirect

@PetBibi1 Lori, you legend first of all, can we give you a standing ovation for keeping a plant alive since 2018?! That’s basically a PhD in Snake Plant Studies…. The repotting learning curve is real, and honestly, that combo of LECA soil layering sounds like a botanical science experiment Gordon Ramsay might yell at It’s RAW in the roots!! But honestly? You didn’t just save it you gave it a reboot and a glow-up. Splitting that OG plant into 3? That’s not a setback, that’s a spin off series. Think of it like: your original baby is now a proud parent, sending her little rootlings off into the world. Cue dramatic plant graduation music. From one plant nerd to another you did GOOD. They’re gonna thrive. And those new pots? That’s their freshman dorm before they start climbing the green ladder.
@JungleDreamer 🥰😊🥹 you’re gonna make me cry. Thank you for the pep talk and perspective. This is the plant that gave me the confidence to venture into other houseplants and now all three have a special place in my heart. Thank you again 💚
@PetBibi1 Thank you for letting me be part of that story. I’m rooting for you and your OG turned legacy fam always 💚
