Hello trying to figure out what these spots are on my pen...

Hello trying to figure out what these spots are on my pencil cactus it seems like its only on this stem. And what should I do to help.

Could it be fungus maybe? Systemic Granules won’t hurt. If it helps, great! If not it still will be good for warding off any pests. It’s really simple to use as well

Thanks I think I got my cross hairs on what it is. They are called SCALE insects they suck the sap on the stems.
