#Calathea #CalatheaCrew I have 3 calatheas and two of them right now are really struggling with brown edges. I do have rocks to add humidity and I water them when they're still moist. They're near an east-facing window but I don't think there's too much sun. Is this just something I need to live with with calathea? The zebrina was in terrible shape when I got it so I'm mostly glad it's alive. They're both putting out new leaves all the time.
4ft to light, indirect
4” pot with drainage

@quadmoniker it does feel quite impossible to keep a Calathea with no brown spotsπŸ™ˆ Some types are easier/harder than others. Some grow out of their brown spots, some grow into themπŸ˜… I have a beautiful Illustris that I managed to keep spot-free in its first two years, but as it exploded in size, I don't seem to get in front of the spots after last winterπŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
The Makoyana are easier though, mostly because it grows so fast I can just cut the ugly leaves off and still have a full plantπŸ™ˆπŸͺ΄

They might react to just a small temperature change, draft, a little inconsistency in watering, too much or too little light or humidity or fertilizer. Something in the water or soil they don't like, the list goes on and onπŸ˜…

You might get lucky and hit their sweet spot some day. But that might change again before you know it, sooπŸ˜… But you can cut off just those brown parts for looks, if you wantπŸ€·β€β™€οΈ I think Orbifolia is one of the more temperamental onesπŸ˜…
@MockingJay thank you!
Calatheas love to be moist. They are very thirsty and so not like direct sun. They will crisp fast. So don't put it in a window. Put it where she can see the sun but it can't see her. They like humidity.
@plantfinatic
What the heck does "where she can see it but it can't see her" mean?? 😳
