New Vanda Orchid mom here. Can anyone tell me what’s wrong with the bottom left leaf? It recently changed that color. Just bought the plant home last weekend and want to make sure it’s doing alright. Any help appreciated! #NewPlantMom #VandaOrchid #helpneeded
2ft to light, indirect
2” pot without drainage
Last watered 1 year ago
Since it’s getting into the winter months it might not have enough humidity. They thrive at like 80%
I’m not positive but I think they do lose their bottom leaves eventually too. I’ve never owned one but see them at my nursery all the time and I see that a lot.
Bottom leaves start withering and get wrinkly and get dead ends.
I have seen them water their vandals there. They put them in a bucket of water with a fish air bubblers/ pump to really aerate the water as they soak. May be helpful info 🤷‍♂️
Wow!!
Since you’ve only had it a week it’s something that happened before you got it. I’d say typically it got too much light on that leaf and it’s just now browning. It could be a humidity issue- perhaps the roots at some point at the shop didn’t get evenly watered? Sometimes it’s just shedding a leaf but I’d expect the leaf to gradually yellow all over, not brown at the tip. Also are you adding fertilizer when you water daily? It may be too much. Finally I’ve read where vandas are sensitive to water temps. Maybe be sure water is room temp. Hope some of this helps!
Vandas shouldn’t lose leaves. That looks like possibly sunburn, but maybe a little rot. They don’t like standing water on their leaves. Are you watering early in the day? Is it getting any direct sun?
