Help. My new plant given by colleague suddenly shriveled and I found the stem darkened. Today it has gotten worse. Any idea to salvage? I might not have enough sun for it. The pot in the photo I realized it has much soil but may have trapped water

I would hold off from watering for at least a month and put it on a bright windowsill.
