I think six months is enough! After checking every day or two for the last six months, I found another Mealy bug on my Tristar. I just can’t anymore. In the fall I plan to use that room for a lot of my plants and I don’t want to take any chances unless it has tremendous sentimental value. The next time I see it Mealy bug on a plant it needs to say its prayers. It’s just not worth risking my other plants. Anyone else here a monster like me? #HappyPlants
@Just1More totally with you on the mealybug situation. I have two palms (ponytail and windmill) that are receiving treatment in my basement. Thankfully the basement isn’t finished so I can drown them in alcohol/water mix and not worry about the bugs going anywhere (the floor has gotten its fair share of spray🤣).
But if it’s looking like they aren’t going to be free of the mealys, then they will get a new start at the local dump.
My previous mealybug infestation ended up infecting around 9-10 plants before I caught it. Of those, I only tried to save one. And I still watch it like a hawk. The rest of the plants went in the rubbish!
Hope your mealybug adventure ends with the mealybug(s) total demise!!!

Have you tried this? It works like flea meds for pets, but for plants; a killer and preventive, so you can sprinkle it on healthy plants to protect them while battling other infestations.
It works well and doesn't harm plants, except carnivorous ones; you sprinkle the required amount and water your plants like normal
I was skeptical, but now it's a game-changer for indoor and outdoor potted plants, reducing chemical use and bug maintenance.
However, be cautious with outdoor pots near runoff or visited by pollinators, especially in areas with wildlife outside typical pests. My garden is screened off, so I don't know if it will harm other animals that eat plant matter.
The anole population, which I sometimes see drinking the drain water from the pots, don't appear to be harmed or sick.
However, they are reptiles and are definitely built sturdier than your average pollinator with an even sturdier digestive system, seeing how their favorite meals are bugs that like decay.
