Gnat nix: the miracle cure that's gone

EDIT: This product is no longer available. 😒😒😒😒😒😒😒😒 I just answered a question about fungus gnats and I wanted to add a photo of the product I recommended. Now I can’t find the post. Grrr…. Anyway, as far as I’m concerned this is the miracle cure. 2-3 weeks and every gnat is gone. https://www.planetnatural.com/product/gnat-nix/ #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #

Unfortunately they no longer make this product
yeah i saw it too then it disappeared. i was wondering the answer because i only use organic soil and i don’t have any bugs but if some are coming i need to know what to do. bugs = yuck
this would be good preventative maintenance, yes?
I've never heard of this before!
I just water with mosquito bite water. Im definitely looking into this!
Thank you!!
Thank you Mary!
You’ve reminded me I’ve seen a few stray gnats recently. This is what I use (for my Aussie friends) it’s absolutely amazing, used it last year and didn’t see another gnat. It’s also a top dressing, I’ve acquired a lot more plants since last summer so I’m not surprised I have to bust it out again πŸ˜… I should probably do it tonight πŸ₯² (lazy bones 🦴)
I didn’t attach pic #idiot
@Natural Abdolutrly. I used it on my plants when I had gnats and I never got them again. Plus, you might need to add a bit more to some of your pots over time, but for the most part you only do it once.
@ManyLime I loved it! If you don’t like the white color you can put a top coat of gravel or something .
@HoyaAddict It’s so easy to use and it doesn’t hurt the plants at all.
@HoyaAddict Dounds pretty much the same.
@TruthfulApricot Yeah I love it and it looks great too 😊
I’m interested in trying this but can’t find it on stock anywhere πŸ˜•
Is it potting soil
@Natural I was told about a similar product from a nursery and they said that you use this stuff to prevent not get rid of.
@clairsheart No. it’s a top cover that the gnats can’t go through. You cover your soil with it to form a barrier.
@ManyLime Phooey! That’s a shame! It was like magic.
EDIT: This product is no longer available. I didn’t know. It’s a shame. 😒😒😒 @ManyLime @Vjunc @AwesomePlants @Beeps @clairsheart
From what I saw they suggested sand or the like. Because it keeps the gnats from reaching the actual soil.
It sounded fantastic tho, I would have loved to try it. You know I use gravel on some plants like my snake plants, maybe I'll use more gravel πŸ€·πŸΎβ€β™€οΈ
@Steff Gnat Nix works by preventing the larvae from emerging and they die since they can’t. The adults don’t die because of the barrier, but they are unable to reproduce. They have a lifespan of only a couple of weeks so when they die without progeny there are no more left. It doesn’t directly kill them, but it does take care of the problem. It handled my infestation very quickly. Maybe the product you were told about would be similar. 😊
