You’ve reminded me I’ve seen a few stray gnats recently. This is what I use (for my Aussie friends) it’s absolutely amazing, used it last year and didn’t see another gnat. It’s also a top dressing, I’ve acquired a lot more plants since last summer so I’m not surprised I have to bust it out again 😅 I should probably do it tonight 🥲 (lazy bones 🦴)
@clairsheart No. it’s a top cover that the gnats can’t go through. You cover your soil with it to form a barrier.

@Steff Gnat Nix works by preventing the larvae from emerging and they die since they can’t. The adults don’t die because of the barrier, but they are unable to reproduce. They have a lifespan of only a couple of weeks so when they die without progeny there are no more left. It doesn’t directly kill them, but it does take care of the problem. It handled my infestation very quickly. Maybe the product you were told about would be similar. 😊
