Acquired this from a friend a week ago and it is bent and twisted and turning a bit yellow. How can I salvage this?

@CasaJosie Hi Josie! I would chop and prop the whole thing! Once you have 5-6 small pieces with roots you can plant them together or separate and have a bunch of little Homies! ๐ Here are some instructions I found for you! 17 Propagating dieffenbachia (dumb cane) is incredibly easy using stem or tip cuttings. Simply cut the main stem into 4-6 inch pieces, ensuring each has at least one or two growth nodes (the raised rings on the stalk). Root them in water or damp, well-draining potting soil, keeping them warm and humid. Key Propagation Methods1. Water Propagation (Easiest)Water propagation is a great way to watch the roots grow and is highly forgiving. The Cut: Take a tip cutting with at least 2-3 leaves, or use a segment of stem. Make a clean cut just below a node using a sharp, sterilized knife or shears. Preparation: Strip off any lower leaves that would otherwise sit below the waterline to prevent rot. The Setup: Place the cutting in a glass jar of room-temperature water so that at least one node is submerged. Maintenance: Put the jar in bright, indirect light. Change the water every 3-5 days to keep it oxygenated and clean. Transplanting: Once the roots are 2-3 inches long, plant the cutting in a loose, well-draining potting mix (e.g., a mix of standard potting soil and perlite). 2. Soil Propagation (Direct Planting)If you are working with bare stem sections, planting directly in the soil avoids the need to transition the plant later. The Cut: Cut the stem into 2-3 inch pieces, each with at least one or two nodes (eyes). Callus: Let the cut ends dry and callus over for 24 hours. Planting:Vertical: Plant the cutting about an inch deep in a moist potting mix or coco coir, ensuring the top is facing up. Horizontal: Lay the stem cutting flat on top of damp soil and press it in lightly, just enough that it anchors itself. Humidity: Cover the pot loosely with a clear plastic bag or place it in a propagator to maintain humidity. Growth: New roots and shoots will push through the nodes in about 2-4 weeks.
