Oh to be a tiny spider sleeping between the fuzzy warm Kalanchoe x gildenhuysii leaves πŸ₯Ή

I love how Miller consistently attracts spiders to build sleeping sacks between his leaves. I once cleaned a seemingly abandoned nest inside/between the top leaves, only to find another spider built a new nest there the next day! πŸ’—πŸŒ±πŸ•·οΈ

(ps: I just found out that this plant is a K. milotii-tomentosa hybrid, hence the brown tips πŸ˜† really thought it was sunburn spots lol πŸ˜…)

@SuperNoob nice looking plant πŸ‘πŸ˜€ And sheltering his little friends πŸ•·οΈ
I like it when spiders live on plants because they eat the pests
@Seymour thank you! πŸ•·οΈπŸ’•
@SimpleSucc luckily this one kalanchoe doesn’t have any pests at all! just cozy good lil spiders πŸ•·οΈπŸ’•
So cute ☺️ what an oasis she had!!!! We have lizards everywhere here living in the plants, every time I water one pops out!!! Good for bug control also hahah
I’m terrified of spiders no matter the size 😰
i have a jumping spider named Jerry that likes to live in my plants too!
@SimpleSucc yes!! Most of my outdoor plants I brought in recently for the cold season have spiders on them. I have over 100 plants. About half were outside all summer. I don’t disturb them. I even have a large nursery spider on my large FLF. they are getting to stay safe and warm for winter while eating anything else on them. I do hope tho they can survive on what little food will be left by spring tho. Don’t want them to starve.
@cinque_stelle I absolutely LOVE Jumpers!! I have a couple rarely seen primitive jumpers on mine somewhere. (A LOT of plants are tall/large and grouped together so they could be anywhere at this point!) I didn’t realize they were Jumpers but they acted like it so I looked it up! Rarely seen! White/creamy with a longer body and small.
I have one just like it, but #Greg named it #pandaplant.
Beautiful 😍
@cinque_stelle
I had a pet jumping spider too. They're easy to fall in love with. Jerry's a great name.
Gorgeous plant 🌱
@cinque_stelle noooo😱
@Canadianintexas ah yeah those lizards! i have a lot of them too in the unkempt jungle-y part of my garden πŸ˜†
@ZingGoldenhill it was me a few years ago, but after i tried to pay attention to their face… omggg they’re so cute with their big eyes πŸ₯ΉπŸ₯ΉπŸ₯Ή and they really behave like cats! might as well call them micro kitty hahaha
@cinque_stelle awww hello jerry! πŸ₯° i used to have one too last year, but she has crossed the rainbow bridge πŸ’” rip miss bitsy i’ll always miss you πŸ˜”
@SuperNoob lol, it’s still a no for me πŸ˜†
@NovelRosaryvine seems like we really love spiders in our gardens! i see them a lot too on my garden but it seems like there’s not many enough to totally control the pest populations πŸ˜… really wish there’s a lot more of them!
@WarrantedMelon i was confused too initially because it looks different from the millot kalanchoe beside it… after i google lensed the picture, i found out a reddit post of someone asking to ID a plant that looks exactly like this. a redditor replied that it’s a millot-panda hybrid called K. x gildenhuysii. when i googled that name, that’s really it!

if yours are more compact and have darker maroon outlines, then it’s panda. if it looks exactly like me, then it’s K. x gildenhuysii πŸ’—πŸŒ±
@Chevysgirl11 thank you! πŸ’—πŸŒ±πŸ•·οΈ
@thecrystalbabe thanks! πŸ₯°
@plantstate pet jumping spiders are really cute πŸ’— makes us want to look into their eyes a lot πŸ₯Ή
@Azplantchic thank you! πŸ₯°πŸŒ±
@ZingGoldenhill it’s okay! i just hope you only shush them away and not kill them on sight out of your fear πŸ’• they just want to live πŸ₯Ί
@NovelRosaryvine i love them too! i used to be β€œscared” of spiders but now i like them. jumping spiders definitely made me change my mindβ€οΈπŸ•·οΈ
@SuperNoob aww! 😊 Jerry says hello πŸ‘‹ πŸ•·οΈand that we’re both very sorry to hear about miss bitsy, much love from Jerry and I.
@plantstate awe. I totally agree. They are the best. I had a house Jumper I named George. He enjoyed sitting close and watching me every evening when I was on the couch. He was the size of a dime!! Well one day we left the house. And when we came home…..George was flat in the door frame. :( I actually cried and buried him in the yard. RIP George. You were a very good friend and I enjoyed your curious company.
@cinque_stelle they have so much personality
@NovelRosaryvine
Aughhhh..it hurt just reading your post. I guess there's no need to clarify that mine decided to live in my house on its own. Just want readers to know that he wasn't a spider from a pet shop.
I'm so sorry about George. Heartbreaking. I understand shedding tears over friends, no matter the species or size. Without going into detail, we had a wonderful snake that lived in the rock benches we used for seating around a fire pit. He was so loved. Always popped out to greet us when we sat down. Stayed too. Eventually, we believe a hawk or other predator got him.
@plantstate awe, hopefully your noodle friend had a fast passing. With no suffering. All these years I still think of George. He would always come close to me when I would be sitting on the couch watching tv. Very curious guy. But I unfortunately still see is flat little body in the door in my head at times. I imagine he also would have passed immediately. He was also one who snuck in, he wasn’t bought or a pet. He just decided to live with me and never leave.
