NO. WAY!? I had NOO idea these flowered. How cool!?
@elisenavidad lolol! My reaction exactly. I mean realistically everything flowers but I’d never seen nor heard of this!!!!!
@RealSimpleMama very nice! I actually had 2 with flowers but I cut the flower off. I read that the flowers slow down the growth of the plant and take energy away from the beautiful leaves so I removed mine. I’ll be interested to see what your looks like when it opens since I didn’t let mine. It is definitely a very happy plant to be flowering so keep up the hard work!! πŸ˜‰
@Shells_Garden yay! Yeah I think that rule about flowering (and how the leaves may suffer for a while) is true of a lot of plants. I cut them off of all my Alocasia but want to see this one!
Mine never get much different than that first picture from Sarah, just dry up after that, so I always cut mine off now. I just take it to mean my plant is happy and healthy. @RealSimpleMama @elisenavidad @Shells_Garden
@AC73LoveCats ooh ok I’ll keep checking! Thanks!
@AC73LoveCats agreed! It’s definitely happy if we can get them to flower! I’ve heard they are like Peace Lily flowers when they open but I never waited long enough to let them open to see it for myself!
Your plant is beautiful 😍 From what I read, that pretty green thing IS the flower πŸ˜„ they don't open up at all which is why they slow down the leaf growth. I've had one on mine for about a month now. I will probably cut it off, but for now I just like looking at it!
Scratch that last post! I just read some more that the flower does bloom looking like a Peace Lilly flower 😍
@Luvlilu awesome! Thanks for telling me. Mine is… still being bashful. I just repotted this plant and it had a dramatic fit, so I’ll give the flower a few more days to do its thing and then I’ll chop it.
