My Creeping Charlie is having some yellowing and brown spots? It looks like there is lots of new, lush, dark green growth. The yellowing seems mostly with the older growth…is this a natural process with Charlies? I’m coming up on my second summer with the majority of my plants, so…I’m def still learning about the normal cycles of any given species. I’m a little worried about white flys because when I took him off his hook, I saw 2/3 of them fly off….God help me, I don’t wanna fight white flys again! 😩 opinions on if it looks like it could be white fly damage? Yes? No? I’m unsure…

💧Your plant has been overwatered. An overwatered plant can attract whiteflies. 😟The dark spots on the leaves with yellow halos is a signs of bacterial leaf spot disease. When you water your plant, try to avoid getting its leaves wet. Using a long narrow neck watering can will help you with the hard task of keeping the water off the leaves.
💦Before watering your plant, use the finger soil dip test, to determine if the top inch of its soil is dry. This method allows the plant to tell you its thirsty 🙃 and it will help you avoid overwatering your plant.
🏥 Temporally quarantine this plant, away from your other plants because, bacterial leaf spot maybe (repeat maybe) contagious. Use sterilize scissors or pinch off those damaged leaves. Then spray the leaves with Neem Oil. Neem Oil or insecticidal soap will also stop the white flies. FYI: Plants like garlic, basil and marigolds repel whiteflies. For more info: https://pondinformer.com/plants-that-repel-whiteflies/
🙏 Your fast growing Creeping Charlie will make a speedy recovery, live long and prosper.

@Ada3 thank u SO SO SO much!! Let me ask ya this, lol what do u know about turtle vine?
@PioneerRutabaga I love it’s name. I wonder if its called a “turtle” because it’s a slow grower. 🤔 No, it’s the opposite of slow grower. It’s described as a “ nortoriously fast grower in the right environment and care.” It’s also an invasive plant species in some countries, but not in the USA. 🙂 It’s also a low maintenance semi-succulent. One expert said it’s the most beautiful succulent they have ever seen in a hanging basket. 😮 https://positivebloom.com/turtle-vine/ I might consider getting this plant. 🙂
💧Water it when the soil is dry (but don’t let the soil dry out completely). It’s best to use the finger-soil test before watering this plant.
▫️I hope your Turtle Vine will live long and prosper.

@Ada3 thank you…I hope so too. If just been noticing a lot of dead crunchy leaves on my TV…I feel like more than normal. The majority seems to be the older growth that’s under all the new growth, so maybe that’s normal? I’m really bummed that the Creeping Charlie issue is over watering. I’ve really been trying to pay close attention and only water when needed. Same with my Turtle Vine. They are both hanging plants in baskets at my house so I’ve been using weight as a means to check when they need to be watered. (It’s kind hard to see what I’m doing if I try to stick my finger in the dirt…I’m only 5’2”! lol) but so I’ve been just been picking the baskets up while they’re hanging and if they feel very light, then I was bottom watering them in a little bucket thingy I have. Could that perhaps be how im over watering? Could I be letting it sit in the water for to long? When u bottom water, I thought I read that u should let plants sit for maybe 30/35 mins. Perhaps that is WAY too long? I got really worried the one time bc I was bottom watering a few of my succulents and I had forgotten about them!!!! They sat in the watering try ALL NIGHT LONG!!! When I FINALLY remembered I shot up out of a dead sleep and ran downstairs. I thought for sure I’d find a gross mess, but they were totally fine…still have them…I was shocked. But do u think that could be it? Maybe I’m letting it sit for to long?
@PioneerRutabaga
▫️I overwatered my succulent too using the bottom water method. I also let my succulents sit in the water too long. 😏 I now set one of those animal shaped kitchen timer (you find in the grocery stores) as a reminder.
▫️While bottom watering, keep checking (using your index finger) to see if the surface of the soil is moist every 5 minutes.
▫️It’s hard to tell someone how long it will take to bottom water any plant. On an average it should take anywhere from 5- 15 minutes to bottom water a succulent, but how much water any succulent will absorb depend on these factors:
•The size of its pot
•The type of succulent ( It maybe a Tropical succulent or desert succulent or etc.)
•The type of soil it’s in.
• Whether or not it’s dormant. When plants are dormant they will require less water (FYI: some succulents are dormant in the wintertime and some are dormant in the summertime). Both of your succulents are dormant in the wintertime.
▫️These are the reasons why I check my succulents every 5 minutes, to see if their still thirsty.
▫️I hope both your succulents will quickly recover.

I use the sus-tee Aquameter. It an indoor moisture detective or a water thermometer. No more dirty finger. 😀 You stick it in the plant’s soil and leave it there. When its white, the soil is dry and your plant is thirsty. If it’s blue then there is moisture in the soil. I still double check using the soil-finger method. They come in 2 colors, different sizes, and you can buy refills. They can last 6 -9 months. They’re only found online at Amazon, eBay and Etsy. They’re only activated when you water your plant.
I sound like a commercial, but it’s some of my plants lifeline. 🙂

@Ada3 you are like a spring of plant knowledge…I’m so grateful. Would you be apposed to a few more questions? Some are about my plants but some are just about this app and how it works and where to go to find certain things. I don’t have tic-toc, snap chat, or twitter…I not tech savvy by ANY stretch…it’s actually truly amazing that I’ve gotten a far as I have!! I just have a few questions about navigating Greg…only if you have time and truly don’t mind…
@PioneerRutabaga
I don’t mind helping. Keep asking questions.
😀 You sound like me. I’m not on facebook, tictok, nor twitter. I don’t know computer lingo well, but I will try to figure out how to help you.
🙏Thanks for the compliment , but I’m not there yet. I’m still learning. I’m trying to get smart. This year I’ve made several dumb mistakes. shh 🤫, don’t tell anyone, I put a large plant in a light weight plastic pot; it’s top heavy. That doesn’t sound smart. 🙂 I most transplant ASAP.
▫️I read and try to learn something about plants everyday. I watch YouTube Summer Rayne Oakes, Swedish Plantguys and Planterina. And this Greg App got several good experts, that’s taught me so much. You will find this to be one of the friendliest websites. They have contests where you can win $50 gift cards to buy plants or plant accessories.
• I hope to hear from you soon. 🙂

@Ada3 oh good!!! I’m so glad you don’t mind because I could pic your brain for hours I’m sure!!! 🤗 I hope I don’t get pesty and make you regret saying yes!!! But yes, I’ve checked out a number of different plant id/assistance type apps and, for whatever reason, this one stood out to me…and everyone really does seem kind and genuinely eager to be helpful, so….lol….thats a wonderful change! 😊 I saw that they award 50.00 GC 😳!!! How amazing is that?! 😁That’s so nice!! That’s actually one of the questions I have about the app. 🤔 I thought I read that ya have to answer questions to win a GC, but where do you actually go to read the question and answer it? Like I saw the lead board thingy where you can look where everyone is at either by the week/month/year/all-time, but where are the questions located that you need to answer to be in the running for a GC? Also, what does it mean when someone likes your “moment”? 🤔 that’s a completely new one on me!! I’ve never heard of “moments” in this app…or any other to be honest lol…I didn’t read anything about “moments” lol can you explain that a little bit more? If ur able to? And last app question I have is about the sleep 😴thing. Like when it’s time to water ur plant, ya go in and hit that u watered it and u can list how ur plants doing and take a pic to update. Then to the right is the fertilizer remind thing but to the left is a snooze or sleep thing? 🤔I don’t remember what it actually says, but I couldn’t find anything that explains what that is or what it does when ya hit the button. I think I hit it by mistake on a few of my plants 😳lol…I don’t know what I did tho by doing that…. 🙃 But yeah, as of this moment, I can’t think of any other “app” questions…those 3 were the main questions I had…. Thank you again so very much for being willing to share your time and ur knowledge…🙏🏼 I truly truly appreciate 🫶🏻
@Ada3 also have a plant ? if ya don’t mind….actually I have quite a few lol but…lol…let’s just start here…lol…. Any idea what she is? Greg identified as creeping Jenny, but I don’t think that’s it…I looked online and Im thinking a pink flower lipstick plant, or maybe a type of Hoya? Any thoughts? 🤔
@Ada3 and I literally just realized I never attached the pictures!!! I do that ALL THE TIME!!! I’m upstairs getting ready for bed now, so when I get up tomorrow lol, I’ll be sure to send them first thing. I thought maybe I had some in my phone from looking them up today but I must have taken all the pics through google…not accessing my photos, ya know? I’m so sorry about that…when they came up with that saying about forgetting your head if it wasn’t attached, it was because they were talking about me!! lol🙄🤪😝
I learned my way around this app by clicking on every symbol, every character and every picture. 🙂 I have literally clicked everything, even symbols like this > and like this <.
▫️If you touch one of your plant’s picture and stroll down, you will discover all kinds of information and suggestions about that plant. You will also see a place where you can ask questions or a community of people who have that same plant and you can respond to their questions.
▫️Be fearless 🙂. You can easily become an expert or win weekly, monthly or even holiday prizes. I wonder what will they do for valentine day or St. Patrick day 🤔?
▫️To win a $50 gift card:
You have to answer someone’s question and if your answer gets picked or nominated as “the best answer”, then you stand a chance to win a $50 gift card. The top 5 people with the most best answer nominations will win the $50 gift card prize. To see the leader board click on the character that looks like a trophy 🏆, located at the center on the top-right side.
▫️To ask a question: Touch the the first character at the top right side; (It looks like a pencil inside a square box, similar to image below. )
▫️To answer a question: touch community, at the bottom of your screen. Then touch “ read more” or just touch the question ( or words). That will take you to a place where you can finish reading the question, an type a response, that’s located at bottom.
▫️ I hope this info helped. Be fearless, explore, touch everything. 🙂

There is snooze button 😴, because sometimes your plant doesn’t need to be watered, when this Greg app recommends it. In time, the Greg app will improve, as it get use to how often you actually water your plant. Use this app as a reminder to check the moisture in the plant’s soil.
▫️This is why it’s best to use the finger touch method or use a moisture meter to determine if your plant is thirsty. I use the Sustee Moisture meter and this Greg app. 🙂
• It’s impossible for the Greg app to be right every time, because there are too many factors that determine when a plant is thirsty, such as the temperature or the humidity inside your home. Even the amendments we add in the soil to improve its drainage can have an impact on how often plants get thirsty.

@Ada3 that was all so helpful. Some of if I’ve found on my own already, some I had no clue lol so I truly appreciate the info! And what are “moments” that ppl are liking? I get messages that so and so liked my “moment” lol…I have no idea what that means .
@Ada3 but I did FINALLY get the pics for the plant I was hoping you could help me identify…I have my grow light on…if you’d like to see pics with just reg light on, I can def do that. In doing my own research, I was thinking either a pink flower lipstick plant or a Hoya of some kind…any thoughts?
@PioneerRutabaga
It’s looking good, but I haven’t a clue to it’s identity ☹️. I’m very bad at identifying plants. This can be your first question to post. There is a lot of Hoya lovers on this app.
▫️I click the like button to let someone know I like their plant, or if I read and agree with what they wrote. 🙂

@Ada3 no, not yet…I’m going to for sure but…I ended up having to clean up after my cats knocked over another plant!!😭
@Ada3 hey lady!! How are you doing? How has your week been so far? As you know already, things have been busy here but my mom is doing better every day, so…that’s really all I can ask for. I wanted to reach out to ya about my creeping Charlie. The info you sent about over watering, is that something you’ve ever experienced? Like the leaves turning yellow with the brown spots? The reason I’m asking is because since it was over watered, I expected it to take more than a few days to dry out, ya know? I checked on him last night though and the soil way dry to the point where the entire thing just life’s up out of the pot! I was really surprised…I just didn’t expect it to dry out so quickly if it was over watered, ya know? Do you think there’s any possibility it might be something else? Like a fungus thing? Or nutrient deficiency or something or is that the approx amt of time it takes for an over watered plant to dry out? Like maybe it’s a normal thing for an over watered plant to dry out so quickly?
@PioneerRutabaga I’m glad to hear your mom is doing better😃
A few of my plants have signs of being overwatered. They have the same symptoms, the dark spot with a yellow halo. This is disease is also a sign of poor air circulation.
▫️My Monstera’s soil is staying wet too long, which is another way plants get overwatered. I need to add some amendments to it’s soil. Last spring, I made the mistake of repotting it in Miracle-Gro tropical potting mix. I’m thinking about adding Lechuza Pon or pumice in its soil. 🙂 I’ve been slightly under-watering it and this is causing its leaves to start curling. ☹️
▫️Yeah, unfortunately it’s a disease and sometimes its contagious. 😏 It could be either a fungus or bacteria disease. It maybe minor or it maybe serious.
▫️No one can tell how long it will takes for the soil to dry, because there are too many factors that could effects the moisture in the soil, like the amount of amendments in the soil, the temperature in the home and the humidity inside the home. Use the finger-soil test or get (my favorite plant gadget) the Sus-tee Aquameter. It’s found on Amazon.
▫️Spring is just around the corner. Hooray! It’s almost time to feed our plants.

@Ada3 yeah, there are lots of factors that go into how quickly or slowly soil drys…I do know that so I guess that was kind of a dumb question lol…I’m just trying to confirm one way or the other if I’m dealing with a watering issue or something else like a fungal or mold disease. I have some of that Arbor Bio Fungicide and Arbor Bio Insecticide. Maybe I’ll mix a batch up and give it a good spray down. See if that helps at all, ya know? I ended giving it a little bit of water last night and it seems to have perked up but still dealing with the yellowing and brown spots. The first 3 pics is what it looked like before I give it the little bit of water. Then the other 2 are how it’s looking now…
@Ada3 I know…these are the moments that I wish plants to talk…even just a whisper would be great, ya know? lol
•Insufficient light maybe the reason. Our plants are getting less and less light in the wintertime. Do you have a Full Spectrum LED grow light?
•Under watering. When the top inch of its soil is completely dry, water your plant, until water drips out of its drainage hole. This way its roots gets dehydrated.
I hope this info helped
