Crape myrtles and oaks hit hard by freeze

Current situation at our place:

Every single #CrapeMyrtle has lost 1/2 of its limbs. Every #OakTree has broken limbs. Some snapped in half.

I’m heading out with chain saw and loppers with my tractor to help my trees stop losing limbs that are going to peel away their bark. It’s bad, everyone. It’s bad BUT…. my English lavender stayed green through this freeze so…Note to self: Plant more lavender this year.

For everyone having trouble without power and heat, my family is praying for you and hoping that the power comes back on so you can be toasty.

Oh wow that’s crazy. Over here on this side of town it hasn’t frozen from what it seems, but I haven’t gone outside. Everything is just soaked it seems
@SirLiquorice We are up high and nature can be volatile in our area. We go through this every year. Either Winter or Spring. Sometimes both in one year. We lose so many tree limbs but they grow back and we just clean it up and keep going like it never happened. We also plant more trees to preserve the canopy. Two years ago, we planted 6 oaks. This year, I believe we will plant at least 4 unless we have a wind storm in Spring. I will be able to decide once Spring nears its end. It’ll be a long week of work but it’s good exercise. I also like the cold. I see Winter as the controlled fires that renew and restore the land. Strange but true.
I’m so glad you know how to care for them all properly. I have three huge ash on my property that are making me nervous as they’re almost 40 years old.
