Saving my elephant ear philodendron
when i first got this guy he was so beautiful and big. the roots began to get root rot but i believe i saved it in time! i trimmed the healthy root and pulled away all the dead root. how should i be taking care of him?

May help to get soil that drains better. Or you can add perlite to the soil. May have rotted because it wasn’t draining and drying fast enough. I let mine dry before watering again and that seems to be working so far. But I’m more experienced with cacti and succulents than I am with these types of plants. So far so good. It has been growing new leaves like crazy.
