Interesting leaf mutation. I just purchased this Hoya and upon getting it home I noticed it has two sequential leaves with this double pointed mutation. I can’t wait to see if it will continue on this stem. (Spotting on the leaves is residue from watering at the nursery). #hoya #leaf #mutation
0ft to light, indirect
4” pot with drainage
Last watered 2 months ago
Niceee! I have one plant that has one massive leaf with this mutation! It’s such a cool leaf.
You have a very special plant. This phenomenon called Leaf Dimorphism.
▫️The only reason why I know this info is because another person’s on Gregs (approx. 3-4 years ago) also had two leaf types on the same plant and I was so awestruck😮. This is so interesting to a plant-geek like myself.
▫️ Your plant is evolving …(or a better word) its adapting. It’s making adjusting so it can adapt to its non- tropical environment. Perhaps it’s showing you what this plant will look like in the future. 🙂 It’s priceless.
🍃 Now I’m wondering, what is the purpose of the point at the end of the leaf (aka leaf margin)? 🤔 Its purpose is to prevent excessive water loss from the leaf surface and it regulates gas exchange in plants during photosynthesis. Is Global warming the cause of leaf Dimorphism? 🤔
🙏 I hope your beautiful Hoya will live long and continue to prosper into something amazing.
@Alinaa I would love to see that leaf. 🙂
@Ada3 it’s just so interesting with the veiny plant!!!
@Alinaa Wow! It’s so pretty. One of the articles I read said this phenomenon is common. 🤔 I hope your beautiful plant will live long and continue to prosper.
My super silver also has a leaf like that ☺️🪴
