Hello wonderful plant people. This is my Zebra Plant. I have had for it several years and this is the first time it has bloomed. Wow it’s growing a foot long vine with the flowers developing on top. I kept it outside however it got an inch of rain on it yesterday so it’s now on my walkway on its own table. #SucculentLove @AdonicKohleria2 @BabeVila @BuffCaperspurge @CutePolypremum @DanDenMan @DreamMachine @FamedGymealily @HFplantoasis @HolyLacealoe @HolyLacealoe @HummingbirdMint @Jujube @ModestCoconut13 @Preciousplants1 @HummingbirdMint @princesspitstop @DaringColtsfoot @TopCoriander6 @RefinedSandwort @RefinedSandwort @Ponytailmom

That's sooooo exciting when they show their love for us! 🤗😍
@CutePolypremum , what’s really wild about this plant Is that it grew so slowly until I I started paying extra attention to it. Literally in about two weeks, it grew that vine flower.
@Malagueña

They really feel our emotions... I'm convinced!
That's so cool about the beautiful vine flower.
@CutePolypremum , we just had 3 1/2 inches of rain in a half an hour. I have a rain gauge in my garden. I’m glad I brought my zebra plant in before the deluge.
@Malagueña

WOW!
What a downpour!
It's a good thing you brought your Zebra plant in.

We really need a deluge here in Upstate NY...the Hudson River Valley. There's heavy, thick yellow tree pollen everywhere and allergies are having a field day!

Temps in the 90's with high humidity...
I love really cold weather but in all my travels, I've met only a handful of people who like it also! 🗻🎄
@CutePolypremum , I am in West Central Florida. This is a subtropical climate here. I live in Growing zone 9B. The rain comes in seasons here. We are getting into the rainy season now. Rainy season and hurricane season are one of the same. Little by little I am creating an olive Grove and avocado Grove. I propagate avocados and I have a small group of olive trees growing.
@Malagueña

The avocado grove brings back memories of when we lived on a private 3-acre mature grove and were the caretakers.
We put in a drip irrigation system and had bees for pollination. This was in Vista, California.
We harvested the avos, all organic, mostly Haas, and sold them to an avocado co-op in Carlsbad...not too far from Vista.

We also grew artichokes. Can you grow artichokes in your area? Do you like artichokes?
My younger son was born in Petaluma, California, which is the Artichoke Capital of the world!

Going down memory lane, my hubby and I lived with my Greek aunt and uncle on their olive grove, which bordered the Mediterranean Sea.
No electricity or running water.
My oldest son was born in Sparta, Greece.

We ground the harvested olives and made olive oil using a buffalo cow that pulled a huge stone round and round to grind the olives.

I'm rambling on...but one more thing.
We used long sticks to release the olives from the branches. The olives fell onto very big cotton canvases.

Thanks dear Bob!
You stirred up some sweet memories.

Enjoy your olive and avocado groves! 🤗☺️
@CutePolypremum you have amazing memories., yes, I can grow artichokes in the area. I am in growing zone 9B. My olives and avocados are very young. I may not live long enough to see them produce, but I take care of them very well anyway. That’s for any future generation who may like them. My longtime girlfriend was born in Volos Greece. She’s been teaching me Greek. At least how to speak it. I do not know how to write it. My birthday is soon and I want go down to Tarpon Springs for my birthday. I used to live there many years ago. That is a community settled originally by Greeks. Awesome restaurants.
@CutePolypremum , you are very welcome. χαίρομαι που σε γνωρίζω
@Malagueña @CutePolypremum Lovely bloom stalk and I enjoyed reading both of your thoughts 🤗
@DreamMachine , thank you, Nadia. It’s always great to hear from you. 😁
It's beautiful! The stem is so unique!
@Malagueña

Good morning dear Bob!

Isn't Greg wonderful?!
We meet and become good friends through our plants 🪴 😊.

I loved it when I read your thoughts of planting for the generations to come.

Also, that your significant other is Greek!
I haven't the foggiest what you wrote in Greek, but it was sure nice see those Greek letters again!

My mom and grandparents were full Greek. My grandparents lived in a small village (at least it was not discovered by tourists way back then, called Monemvasia. It was so lovely. All the houses were whitewashed and no cars!
It was on a peninsula.

It's awesome you're learning some Greek!
Does your girlfriend cook you Greek meals? Yum 👍
@CutePolypremum , Good morning Joni how are you? What I wrote in Greek was “it’s nice to meet you”. I am originally from Pennsylvania however I’ve been in Florida for decades. Yes, Greg is wonderful. Everyone has a common bond. Yes my girlfriend does cook Greek meals . 👍
@Malagueña

Today we're in a disgusting heat advisory day, with severe thunderstorms and high winds.
Am hoping the power gods keep our electricity going!

So...really...Florida is your home.

As for me, I'm an Air Force brat and have lived in many different States. Spent all 4 high school years in Wiesbaden, Germany, which I dearly loved.

I've been to every continent and country in the world except the Icelandic countries and China.

This area, the Hudson River Valley, is where I put down roots and have been living here for about a total of 30 years.
It's awesome to settle down!

Most of the family is in the immediate area except my brother, who lives in Houston, and niece from New Jersey.
