Iโ€™ve been seeing a ton of โ€œrareโ€ plants or seeds for sale lately. Basically anything that has the word โ€œrareโ€ in it is a scam. Some color patterns are unbelievable but real like my Neil Diamond Rose (pink and white, tagged below). The majority of incredible colors are fake as are the majority of sponsored plant ads that show up above search results. Iโ€™ve only seen roses lately. Some are AI generated. Others are touched up in PhotoShop. Remember that roses canโ€™t be blue. โ€œBlueโ€ hybrid roses are actually purple. In general, avoid rose seeds. Nobody legit sells seeds. Also any seeds from a hybrid plant wonโ€™t look like the parent. Iโ€™ve reported some eBay and Walmart listings as well as entire websites to the domain host. If you have been scammed, report them on the FBIโ€™s Internet Crimes form

If youโ€™ve never bought from a seller before, make sure to look at their other products to see if they sell obviously fake plants
Like AI generated crochet patterns and press-on nails, the first picture is a lie. Also that multicolored pink thing from Etsy showed up when I was looking up anacampseros telephiastrum
eBay blew it. Just got this email. The craziest part is that those fake seeds were in 25-98 carts
There's an online seller that does smt similarโ€ฆ uses edited photos to promote their stuff. But like 90% of their stuff can't realistically grow here. Either needs grafting [which is unsuitable for most], conditions here aint right, or simply just bs. Like how tf are you supposed to grow a phal from seed by plopping into soil? Looking at the reviews it don't even look anywhere close to an orchid seed or seed pod
@Araceae yeah, 50 seeds for $1.40 is suspicious on its own, nevermind the other problems. This blurry picture of seeds was on almost all of the scammy rose seeds I saw.
