Greg Fam, please help. I am new to taking care of plant. I purchased this Pothos last year. It was pretty small inside of a glass water ball. I actually purchased 2, they both outgrew the small glass container, so i moves them to taller glass containers with water. I changed the water when it got low but i noticed that the roots got black & mush, eventually died. This is the last one and im trying to hold on to it ans just noticed a little black roots.
Are these plants not supposed to stay in water? I like the look of seeing the roots. What am i doing wrong? Should i just repot in dirt?
TIA #Pothos

Anytime I’m having trouble with a plant, I do some research on where they thrive in their natural habitat. Pothos are epiphytic, meaning they like to climb trees, basically! They don’t naturally exist in water, although people keep them in water. Water doesn’t really have enough nutrients for them. I don’t have any trees for them to climb 😉 so have all of mine either in an airy potting soil mix (1/3s potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark) or an aroid mix. They do great! If you want them to thrive, I’d trim off all the mushy roots, plant them in a very well draining potting mix, and give them a good sunny spot- it will bounce back in no time! Here’s my mama pothos- she’s given me numerous plants babies that I’ve potted up, given away, and kept all over my house!
@MamaLinne 🤩 Thank you so much. I have new Aroid potting mix coming today and will pot.
@SageMum66 some plants have a bumpy transition from water to soil, but don’t be discouraged- she will bounce back! Just don’t water until the soil is about 2/3 dry.
@MamaLinne Thank You!
@MamaLinne potted in grow queen aroid mix. Hoping she does well.
@SageMum66 it looks amazing!!
