Should I trim my pencil cactus? It’s very leggy and some of the branches feel like dead weight/floppy and I wonder if they’re preventing new growth. There is new growth but it’s slower than previous growing seasons. Any tips on trimming would be appreciated! #Euphorbia #PencilCactus

Oh my goodness YES, give that guy a trim!! πŸ€— The reason it's so leggy is because it's not receiving enough light. That's also why it's all green and doesn't have the bright red and orange coloring they're known for. I see you already have it in a SW facing window getting 3-6 hours of direct light, so the next step would be supplementing with grow lights. It's amazing what a difference grow lights can make with succulents and cacti! Since he's a big boy, you'd need a big grow light. The cheap ones on Amazon are a waste of money, but if you can get a decent Barrina or Sansi light that would really help it live its best life 😊
Oh, also wanted to mention in case you didn't know...make sure to wear gloves when you trim him. The milky sap is toxic and can irritate your skin. When you're done pruning, let the cuttings callous over for about a week before placing in soil.
Thank you @stephonicle ! Super helpful
