You know what time it is? #saplingdash time!
Since last episode our contestants focus has been unbreakable! Iβve thrown in some experimental conditions for the teams. Letβs take a look at their progress!
First, we have the #pigeonpea team (pic 1) over the past week or so theyβve been dropping! After watching carefully and watching them perk up (a little) after more watering, and then drooping again, I began to wonder if they were already outgrowing their pots, or if there was a soil issue. The underside of the pots did have tiny little root hairs poking out the drainage holes, so after some googling we are testing a larger pot with only coco coir added to the new pots on one of the more established plants, and leaving one as is and watering accordingly until I see if the plants improve or decline. A few of the weirder growing specimens have died off, just 3 left on this team, and their strong start may not be an indicator for victory!
Next up: the #blacklocust team (pic 2) is pulling ahead! With 6 members, theyβre showing themselves to be a hearty bunch! Because thereβs so many, Iβve decided to test the same thing and move one up in pot size before the others, to see how it fares.
Then: the #bluejacaranda team(pic3) is doing well! All 4 members look healthy and strong, itβs the most consistent in terms of growth between individuals so far!
And last but certainly not least: the #crepemyrtle! (Pic 4) This solo competitor is not to be underestimated, everyone loves an underdog!
Weβve had crazy weather and huge fluctuations in temp here, and inconsistent sun, but we are still growing! Catch us next time onβ¦
