Could your Congo be nuclear green?
@GaryPoopins Remember when your green Congo was teasing those red colors on the underside of the new leaf before it opened?! I just happen to stumble across an article about a new hybrid - a nuclear green Congo. You may or may not know about them, but I’m pretty sure yours must be a Nuclear Congo! Leaves grow with bright yellow variegation with a pink tint to the underside of the leaf! If you already knew this all, just disregard and consider this a simple “hello” from me 😂😂

If I’m being honest, I thought that was just another nickname for a variegated green congo, so shows what I know 😆 I guess my little one is a nuclear hybrid and the big one is… just regular variegated because the yellow leaf on that one doesn’t show a smidge of red, while the little plant’s new leaf started to open up and the bottom still has that cool orange/red. Learn something new!🤓
@GaryPoopins We shall consider the case of the mystery pink/red baby leaf closed 🧐🤓 also, as you were hoping, it sounds like the back of that leaf is supposed to stay that orangish reddish color! Neat plant you have! 🌱
Dead honest - a terrible ETSY seller that I used a year or so back had a “nuclear green congo” two leaf cutting available for $800 and I just assumed that was her dumb ass name she gave it, just to hopefully move it out her shop at that ludicrous price tag 🙋🏻♂️ Turns out I was wrong about the plant part of that interaction (sold me a terrible philo burle marx cutting that arrived half dead/packaged like crap)

So I’m not so confident in that Philippines transaction. Two nights ago, I asked for a picture of the plant I’d receive. So she sends me this Prince of Orange philodendron. So, I politely tell her that is a prince of orange, I ordered a variegated red Congo and I would like to cancel my order. So then she tells me that she accidentally sent another person’s plant picture to me, and sends the 2nd picture. So I ask again, is that the plant you are sending me? She said “we can give it to you.” UMM that’s what I ordered… so I’m pretty nervous for the delivery date in February to roll around 😂😂
@Bplants I’m gonna be honest with ya - The shape of the leaves looks odd but the variegation/color looks a lot like a couple of my leaves with the shades of green/pink. Fingers crossed!
@GaryPoopins Agreed, it looks in rough shape. It almost looks like she trimmed the leaves for whatever reason. I’m not confident in this transaction but we’ll see 😬
