I have posted on here a few times seeking advice about propagating my #TreePhilodendron , or #SplitLeafPhilodendron , as they are apparently called now. Then today, I noticed this perfect little pup growing, and I didnβt even know they pupped!
I gently pulled it up and it looked great, so I potted it right away. Iβve wanted to propagate this plant for so long and I am thrilled to have this pup now!

I'm in ohio and they won't live in the ground here. I've got 2 and I had a cat break the top off one and a new one shot up. I'm not positive how to intentionally get a start though lol.
Want more confusion, in 2018 the scientific name changed after genetic testing showed its not even a philodendron its now Thaumatophyllum bipinnatifidum

@ITalk2Plants Yeah I can imagine that they couldnβt last through an Ohio winter! We actually had a lot of freezing days here in Florida this past winter, which is incredibly rare for us. This plant looked like it died but then it quickly started to grow back. We are fortunate to be able to grow a lot of houseplants outside, but there are many plants that just canβt make it through hurricane season, especially succulents.
I tried reading up on how to propagate this plant but it wasnβt so easy. I couldnβt believe it when I saw this pup growing at the base. So excited! I hope more come!

@ITalk2Plants Btw, I believe I read once that these donβt start producing pups until after they flower, which I think takes about a decade! This was planted before we moved here and weβve been living here for 16 years. It has flowered once that I have seen, and this pup popped up about 6-10 months later.
