little update on my philodendron, i have figured he is a crawling/ creeping plant. before i repotted him, he was indeed crawling i just didn’t know what he was doing! i took down his stake and he is doing MUCH better @jkdykes
you can tell if a plant is a crawler based off of stem growth. if you notice, my main stem goes over my pot just to dip lower. creepers take over obstacles to grow. gotta get him a horizontal pot now lol
1ft to light, direct
6” pot with drainage

Im glad its doing better. For some reason, I am almost positive I read white princesses were climbers. I'm glad you figured out. I got a cute rectangular planter from Amazon. They had bunch of different options.
@jkdykes after looking into it, they do it all!! i think it depends on the varientals, but i watched a creator say that one of her philodendrons creeps and said the signs, matched exactly what my plant was doing! thanks for the planter rec, def will get one asap
Hm, I'll have to look into that. I have a philo thats really weak stemmed, so I wonder if that is a crawler variety? Thanks for the info!
@jkdykes little update, got a new white princess and she’s doing the same thing!!! all of her roots are reaching down as she grows more :)
I asked the owner of a nursery / plant store I frequent yesterday about it, and she said that when a climber starts showing crawling behavior it usually has to do with something in its environment like lighting and the plant is trying to reach it.

I looked at it only and it was all so very vague. Either way, as long as our plants are happy, they can be whichever type that want. Lol
@jkdykes ah, okay! that does make a lot of sense. i think for mine, they get a lot of light and everything and have HUGE leaves from crawling, so i just let them do their thing lol. it’s their world, im just watering them in it lol
