Why is my green prayer plant yellowing?
anyone know why my prayer plant is starting to yellow and look so sad? watering has been consistent for the last yearβ could this new location not be giving enough light?? (last pic shows itβs location and the guilty cat who chomped on her)

@miazinnia Yellowing and drooping leaves on a prayer plant can be caused by various factors. It's great that you're considering both light and potential stressors. Here are a few possibilities to consider: Light: Prayer plants (Maranta) prefer bright, indirect light. If you've moved the plant to a location with lower light levels, it could lead to yellowing leaves. They can tolerate some shade, but too little light might affect their overall health. Watering: While you mentioned consistent watering, it's important to ensure the plant is not sitting in soggy soil. Overwatering can lead to root rot, which manifests as yellowing and drooping leaves. Nutrient Deficiency: Plants might require nutrients beyond what's present in the soil. Consider using a balanced liquid fertilizer during the growing season (spring and summer). Humidity: Prayer plants appreciate higher humidity levels. If the air is too dry, their leaves can turn yellow and crispy at the edges. You can increase humidity by misting the plant or using a humidity tray. Stress: Moving to a new location or being disturbed (like the curious cat nibbling on the leaves) can cause stress. Give the plant time to adjust. Potting Mix: Ensure the plant is in well-draining soil and that the pot has good drainage.
Root Bound: If the plant has been in the same pot for a while, it might be root-bound. Repotting into a slightly larger container can help. Consider giving it a bit more light, ensuring proper watering practices, and addressing any potential issues like humidity. Give the plant time to recover, and with some care, it should start to perk up.
