What is the best way to repot her when the new substrate comes in the mail?

Watering: every 2 weeks in Summer, every 3 weeks Spring and Autumn, every 1.5 month in Winter.
You need succulent/ cacti soil and a pot with drainage hole. When watering, put the pot (with the hole) in a container with water, wait 30 minutes, remove the pot with the plant and put outdoors or on a window sill with as much Sun as possible.
Water in the evening to give the plant time to drink enough water. Water ONLY with rain water or distilled water.
Fertilize ONLY with cacti succulents fertilizer.

@theloveofplants With a lot of light these are really fast growers! They will droop if they are getting dry (so they'll TELL you!) If any of the "ears" fall off, just pop 'em back in the soil and they'll root quickly. Handle this one with gloves! The glochids get everywhere and are so small they are hard to remove. Silver/duct tape works well if you do get kissed by it. Yeah ...this one is super easy in my opinion. Mine started in a 3" pot, and after being outside all summer, she quadrupled in size (at least). And, it does not mind being in an arrangement with other cacti.
Do NOT touch it without thick gloves. I have one of these and I thought it was safe... I had painful, tiny spikes that I could not remove from my hands for a week. I don't water mine for a month sometimes, in 115Β°F. If it seems to look a little wrinkled and you haven't watered in a long time, then water it!
Ouch ! π± @UltraKoreanfir
Just so you know when you repot you should wear some gloves. Those are very prickly and fine spines and come out with the smallest touch or brushing against them. They irritate your skin because they are fine they are hard to remove. From experience bunny ear cacti are scary π€£π€£ I didnβt realize this when I got it and got spines EVERYWHERE
@UltraKoreanfir I was just telling her about this.. Iβve had a horrible experience as well
@SvelteKingfern - Sophie - thank you for the detailed watering schedule. That is going to be very helpful! I do have new substrate on the way. And the pot down have drainage. So I will repot her when that new substrate comes in the mail. Suggestions for how to remove the old substrate from the roots?
@UltraKoreanfir Hi Melisse! Good to know they are fast growers (there are already new little babies popping up). Glad to know they tell you when they need to be watered. π΅
If an ear falls off-put it back in the soil - got it! π€
Thank you for letting me know what works to remove the little tiny spines if I get kissed by the plant (I thought that statement was just perfect)! ππΌ
Wow, your plant has just taken off! That is awesome!!

@LittleSongbird Annika - thank you for your insight! I truly appreciate it! Thick gloves π§€- got it! NOT my bare hands.
I hear a reoccurring theme that the plant will tell you when it needs to be watered - that is helpful to know!

@UltraKoreanfir - oooOoo nooo π«£ that is a perfect real life example to share! This is good to know! I am up for the challenge!
@TidyTigerpear - yes, I just barely touched the cactus last night and boom - a whole bunch of those little spines were in my hand. I just think the plant is so SO cute! I am up to give the new plant a try!
@TidyTigerpear handle with care β
