Anyone got tips for a croton? She was doing so good. And with no warning just dropped most of leaves. I have no idea what I did wrong. #Croton #plantrescue #helpneeded
0ft to light, indirect
5” pot with drainage
Last watered 1 year ago
I have a couple croton and I keep one in a terracotta pot in a south west facing window and one in a self watering pot. The one in the terracotta pot drys out quickly and I’ll have to move it to plastic. The self watering pit does great. Did ur plant dry out too much between watering. They hate that and will drop leaves like crazy
@TRose I didn’t think I was letting it dry out too much. I water it when it’s about 50% dry.
Sounds like it’s getting watered well. Is it planted strictly in pine bark? If so it may need some soil
Have you checked for pests? I water mine when the top inch is dry. They like to stay consistently moist but in good draining soil.
I read if there’s any drafts or air vents near them they will drop leaves.
@TRose I have it in a 50/50 mix of orchid bark and potting soil with drainage. I did however change up the lighting. Maybe that will help.
@TRose yea apparently they are real picky and I didn’t know that. I’m a beginner at house plants and just doing the best I can. Lol.
That’s probably it then. They don’t like change so it probably being a diva about the change.
Mine love bright light
@TRose haha. Well I really hope she bounces back. 🀞🀞 Thanks so much for your help. You got a beautiful collection.
No problem. 😌 thank you. Let me know how she makes out. I’m sure she’ll adjust.
@TRose I’ll post an update in a week or two.
@TRose so I got worried and repotted her. And I’m so glad I did. She had root rot. So I cleaned her up and put her in a much chunkier mix and added some extra drainage holes to her pot. So now she looks like this and is in two different pots. She did have some healthy roots left. So hopefully this will help and she’ll grow back.
