How do you save dying sunflowers?
My poor sunflowers are dying how do you fix this?
@Sunflower15 I'm sorry to hear about your sunflower! Make sure it's getting enough sunlight, water, and proper drainage. Check for pests and diseases as well. If the plant is severely damaged, you might need to trim the dead parts and give it some extra care. To add to that sunflowers have a natural life cycle, and once they've bloomed and their seeds mature, they will start to die off. If your sunflower has reached the end of its life cycle, you can save the seeds for planting next year and then compost the remaining plant material...
I see you are in Zone 6 and southern Ohio, as I am. Sunflowers are annuals, so die naturally at the end of the summer growing season. Itβs ok. You can save the seeds or get new seeds to plant next spring after danger of frost. Our first frost-free date is May 14 and I plant on it just after that date every year. Happy planting and growing! If you havenβt, we would love to have you join #OhioGang and #Zone6ers .
