It's been a couple of weeks since I posted on my Blue Java banana tree. She's become a monster. May pic then August pics. I was thinking the same about my banana so I just grabbed a tape measure and here's the verifiable measurements. From ground to top leaf tip is a little over 13ft and the top joint where leaves are emerging is 9ft. Tree width at its wildest is 8-1/2ft. Incredible growth from a 3-1/2ft tree less than 4 months ago.

& 3 Japanese cold hardy in ground.
I wish I had more in the ground currently because it would definitely be a jungle. But itβs been so dry this year that they would all probably be close to dead οΏΌοΏΌοΏΌ

@WormWarriorFarm wow!! I know its like u can almost watch the growth!!! I bought each of my grandchildren a starter BoP so they can be the recipient of that great feeling of plant βparenthoodβ! I named them for them as well!! Just an aside, the first plant i bought my grandaon is a pink splash. He kisses it every time hes here first thing (oh, after me!) When i first gave it to him in our new home (we have bedrooms for both grandchildren), i couldnt find it to water. When i asked Sebastian what he did w/his plant, he whispered, βi put her in my closet l!β lmao!!! I was laughing as i said, no, no honey, lets talk about plant care again!!! Sorry, i just had to share that ditty!π«Άπͺ΄πΏβοΈ

@BuffCaperspurge you actually really can in its peak growing season. Takes about 1.5-3 hours for a 3ft leaf to unroll yup I have sat here & watched them honestly itβs one of the reasons why I would really love you to get one because even if your husband doesnβt like to grow, he would enjoy the process of it being the pinky finger baby to 14 foot οΏΌοΏΌ beauty.
it is honestly the plant that got me into loving to grow all things. They are very few things as satisfying as a growing a banana because everything else is super damn slow and comparison

@WormWarriorFarm wow! What massive growth! You might have a climate a leeeeetle π€ more suitable for bananas than I do, lol! Our neighbors are from Laos and have a large grove of bananas in front of their house (and they are the ones that gifted us ours) but they never grow THAT tall

One of my security cams is pointing in the direction of the tree. So, I set the cam DVR channel to super slow speed. The new "cigar" leaf, that day grew 10 inches. It was so cool to watch!

Yes, every bit of it. Those new leaves grow very fast coming out of the inner pseudostem. I was amazed. I watched it happen on playback in 5 minutes. Entertaining for sure...it was almost comical seeing it move around a bit. I wish you could post videos here. Do you think they might have that feature update in the future?

Hi Brandon. Thank you! I've yet to see one in person myself. I hope to see it next year. It's gonna really bother me when I have to cut and insulate my tree for winter. But....if I leave about 6ft of stem/trunk, maybe I'll have bananas next year! I sure hope so. π

@WormWarriorFarm I wish! That would be nice. Weβre kind of left on our own here π€·ββοΈ The Greg team used to be much more active. Theyβre still quick to respond to emails when we need help but I donβt know if there will ever be an update π
