Why is my canna lily sad? 3 buds bloomed, fell off, now it’s sad and brown. Crunchy brown not soggy brown.
What have your watering habits been like, specifically what does the soil feel like right before watering?
@stephongreg I’ve been waiting for the soil to pull away from the pot and then I bottom water.
@alisaurrrr hey Ali! Sorry for the delayed response 🤪

So, if you're waiting for the soil to pull away from the sides of the pot before watering, you're waiting too long 😉 Once it's that dry, there's a very strong likelihood the soil has become hydrophobic. That where the soil has reached a point of dryness that it's no longer able to retain moisture. Water pours straight through, so it doesn't hang around long enough for the roots to absorb what they need. Even when watering fully and with the correct frequency, a plant will end up showing signs of being underwatered ("crunchy brown" is one of these signs).

While lilies don't like their soil to completely dry out, they can also get root rot from sitting in soggy soil too long, so you want to aim for somewhere in the middle. Soil should be consistently, evenly moist. Think of how a dish sponge feels after being wrung out—that how the soil should feel.

Once soil becomes hydrophobic, there's no way to reverse it. You'll have to repot in fresh soil.
