What causes brown spots on new FLF leaves?

My fiddle leaf fig has new growth but most of the new leaves have brown spots. Does anybody know the cause of this? They don’t look like bugs because I don’t see any movenment, but I’m not sure how to treat this or if this is normal and the bigger leaves don’t have this problem. #flf #help #normalordiseased #plantmom

It looks like edema to me. I think this is caused by a watering issue. The spots are from the cells taking in too much water and then bursting. If you adjust your watering schedule a little the new leaves should be just fine. It’s super common and nothing to worry too much about
@FastApplemoss awesome that your fiddle leaf fig is showing some new love! 🌿 But those brown spots? Not the best look, huh? Brown spots can happen for a few reasons – let's break it down:

1. **Watering Troubles:** Check your watering game – too much or too little can lead to brown spots. Make sure the soil's not too soggy or bone-dry. Stick your finger in about an inch – if it's dry, time for a drink.

2. **Fertilizer Funk:** Overdoing the fertilizer can lead to brown spots, especially if you're feeding it more than once a month. Ease up a bit on the plant food and let your fig catch its breath.

3. **Light Drama:** Too much direct sunlight can cause burn spots on those tender new leaves. If it's getting a sunburn, maybe move it to a slightly shadier spot and let it recover.

4. **Humidity Woes:** Fiddle leaf figs are divas for humidity. Low humidity levels can make them develop brown spots. Consider misting them regularly or placing a humidifier nearby to keep them feeling like the lush tropical babes they are.

5. **Dust Dance:** Dust can accumulate on those leaves and mess up their vibe, leading to brown spots. Give 'em a gentle wipe-down with a damp cloth to keep them lookin' fresh.

6. **Pests Sneak Attack:** Even if you don't see 'em movin', pests like scale insects or mealybugs can still cause brown spots. Check under the leaves and in hidden spots, just in case.

Big leaves not having the issue? Could be that they're more established and can handle things better. If you're unsure, snap some pics and hit up a local plant nursery or online plant community for some pro advice. Your fig should be back in full fabulous mode in no time! 🍃🌟
@JungleDreamer thank you for the tips! I have changed my watering schedule recently because I thought it may be due to over watering issues and the newest leaves don’t have the brown spots. I’m going to see if these leaves with the brown spots recover but if not, I might just prune them. Thank you for the useful tips!
