Anticipating my beach rose's trim!
Sooooooon my pretty, soon!! Since moving into this house I have been straight up ITCHING to hack at this poor neglected rose. I gave it a trim at the beginning of December when we first moved in but nothing severe, just a mild shaping to make it safe to move around. Some of the trailing growths were around 3m long.
After the trim I noticed some yellowing leaves 😩 turns out the previous residents had dumped a bunch of grass in the garden bed immediately behind the rose bush. It produced too much nitrogen and was limiting the Roses iron intake. A dose of blood and bone at the end of December and removing the sludgy half decomposed mass of grass and now the colour in the blooms is red instead of dark pink, and they’re velvet roses!!! They look like crushed red velvet in the sun 😍

@RealSimpleMama actually I have been known to put lamb chops and while fish into the blender to make rose food slurry 😝 but yes this time was store bought. I also tell small children that they shouldn’t stick their fingers near my carnivores because “little kid fingers taste like flies because they’re always touching things they shouldn’t” 🤪
Blood and bone is leftover from slaughter houses so technically, you are putting real blood and bone in the soil. You guys sound like my kind of people! @PoisonIvys @RealSimpleMama 🫶🏽
@AnthuriumQueen dark, twisted and creepy are usually associated with me 😅 and that’s when you ask my family members….. 😂 my sister rang me because her 2nd daughter became obsessed with bone collecting….. I’m not allowed to babysit her anymore because apparently bone hunting along creeks is not a child friendly activity….. my kids all love it
