I got this GORGEOUS golden pothos today and I noticed this around the soil. Google is saying fungus. I removed it and sprinkled a light dusting of ground cinnamon to try and deter new fungal growth (anti fungal for those who arenβt woowoo non toxic lol) but Iβm wondering if yall have any more tips? Itβs evident itβs too wet and overwatered! Will definitely be giving it time before I water it myself for the first time! #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #GoldenPothos #PothosPack #Pothos
Hi @BigCaperbush43 it looks like saprophytic fungus which is actually beneficial π. It clears away dead debris and improves soil health. It can be unsightly and if you donβt like it you can scrape away at it. But it most likely will return because itβs difficult to scrape every little bit of it. Iβve scraped it out when it shows more than I want it to an eventuality itβs barely noticeable. It probably runs out of debris to eat up as the soil gets older shrug. Iβve tried replacing the soil but found it transferred to the new soil. I suppose if all the soil is removed, roots cleaned thoroughly and a fresh pot is used you could get rid of it all. But for me thatβs a lot of work to rid the soil of something beneficial. π. Oh and btw your new pothos looks fabulous!!π
