Got this Gerbera Daisy 2 days ago from the nursery, what’s going on???? Help please 😭 #Gerbera
did you repot it? i’m not the biggest expert on flowers but the rest of the plant looks healthy, so i wouldn’t worry too much. it might just be transplant shock, or it wants to use its energy to acclimate to the new environment instead, as flowers take a lot of energy for the plant :)
I did not! But just now I checked on it and it was root bounded 😭 so I transplanted it to a bigger pot. I noticed the soil was super wet as well 😭😭 hopefully it will recover soon :/ should I cut the flowers? Or is there a chance of them perking up?
@Catseal i think it’s best you deadhead/remove the flowers! since you repotted and changed the soil (which is a great step in the right direction! soggy soil is not good for most plants), i think the plant will redirect its energy into establishing itself in its new home rather than making flowers for a while. i’m sure it’ll bloom again when it’s warmer as long as you take good care of it! best of luck <3
also since the soil it came in was soggy, i think you might want to just leave it be for a little while and wait a few days to a week (or longer if it’s winter where you live) before doing anything else like watering, fertilizing etc.
Thanks for the advice!!! πŸ’•
@Catseal I would cut the flower. A new one will probably grow
@MaturingRhodora agreed - we keep a gerbera daisy, and these flowers here are spent
