We have a mature ming aralia which continues to lose foilage this spring. we had this happening this past winter we thought due to temp swings. we water using a moisture meter, have repotted it with new soil added into a larger pot, added coffee grounds to boost acidity. we have good new growth at the top. the leaf loss is in the bottom 2/3rds of the plant. i simply dont know what else to do☹️
Hi James! It’s so beautiful! I just love it! We have to remind ourselves from time to time that nothing in nature is perfect. Plants will kill off leaves they don’t need for reasons we probably won’t ever understand. So, maybe if you have done the research and tried everything that you can think of and not really changes your care or its environment, it many just leaves turning over, it happens sometimes. I always look up my plants in three different places to get three different opinions. I have found that it works better for me- it’s absolutely beautiful! Congratulations! 🪴🌿👍🏻🥳
@Ponytailmom thx for the feedback. I hear ya regarding leaf turnover. It dropped the most in late winter d has slowed considerably of late. I bought it in 2013 from a plant rental for $15.00. it was a bunch of bare stalks.
