@Bmd hey Brandon- was wondering about your tomato plant. I grew 3 of them last year. I was watching YouTube videos and I found one really interesting, so I did what he said…..I had so many cherry to@Aries and regular ones- we were giving them away. I’ve grown them many, many times- but this last crop went beyond anything I could have dreamed. It’s pretty simple too. Pinch off all bottom leaves so you have a 3-4 inch stem from soil line up. If it has not flowered yet- when it starts to flower- pinch ALL of them off. Let it grow- making sure to pinch those bottom leaves so you have a clear sight of all the soil. Depending on if you’re growing in containers, or the ground- for pots- you can pinch off some of the tops so it grows bushy. If growing in the ground- make sure you have tomatoe cages or stakes. In 1 month- mine just exploded! The reason for pinching the bottom leaves- so you only water the soil. Tomato leaves can’t handle water and they burn very easily- plus in pinching…the stalks grown thicker to hold the weight if the plants as it grows. The reason for pinching off the flowers once or even twice- young tomato plants cannot handle to weight if the tomatoes, and lots of the time the stalks break. Lastly- don’t let your beautiful babies eat any part of a tomato’s plant- it’s very toxic to them (us too to a certain extent- ever get itchy while pruning or planting without gloves! Yup- now I know why!!) just wanted to share that little bit of info. 😊🪴💕🍎

A personal tag post from Catherine @SillyPlantGirl …. I’m so honored ☺️🙌🏻

Thank you for taking your time for all of this :) Appreciated as always!

You know, i definitely have an issue when it comes to picking/cutting/prop/chop- although I know it can dramatically change the outcome of the plants. I’m like this for all plants, not just tomatoes. I don’t know if it’s like a form plant OCD… I just can’t bring myself to do it🤷‍♂️ I currently have over 50 house plants, 2 of those are my propagations 😭😭

I grown tomatoes when I was younger for many years, along with cucumbers & peppers ect- I always planted into soil in my built in raised brick garden bed. I always got an insane harvest as well. However, I’ve taken a couple years off the vegetables- and this year the tomatoes just seem to grow vines….no veg. I initially thought it was because I just started too late in the season. But not I’m thinking it’s because I plastic potted them along with not pinching flowers/ cutting bottom leaves.

I had no idea it was toxic to humans! How interesting 👀
Thank you for looking out for my fur babies :)) They appreciate it as much as I do.

I will overcome my fear and try your advice on my tomato plant! Because if Catherine says so, you best believe I’m doing it!

THANK YOU !!
