So I got this new plant but I don't know what it is called and is it in good condition?
I think this is a #bromeliad though I don't know what specific one. I'm not very familiar with these personally, though it does appear to need some TLC. Totally okay, too, because in my opinion, this can be worked up again ð
I imagine some of the others will have a keener eye for details on this, though I'll see what I can find, too, that might help.

Hi Leo! This plant appears to be a Guzmania Bromeliad in the natural process of dying after blooming. The brown, central part is the spent flower spike, which can be cut off at the base to improve appearance. Look for small baby plants, called "pups," growing around the base, as these will become the new main plants. The mother plant will slowly wither while the pups grow; you can separate the pups once they are about one-third the size of the original plant.
