My Beta fish needed a friend, but I’m not exactly sure what this little aquatic combo is, maybe #JavaMoss ? They all seem to be happy and thriving, wondering if anyone else has insights?

A lot of aquatic mosses look very similar to each other, and since this one has been rolled into a ball shape, it’s hard to make a positive ID. I suspect it’s Java moss around the base (it’s very common and less expensive than other types of moss), and if the new growth comes in fairly long, then that would identify it for sure. If the growth stays more compact, then it might be a flame moss or Christmas moss possibly. Or one of a dozen that look similar 🫣

The larger plant growing from the center is a java fern Windelov.

Both plants look great! They’re good for low light, but make sure they are getting some light. I have a bowl with Java moss and Java fern under a lamp near my desk, and they’re really happy there. If you don’t get much growth, where they are, you may want to consider adding a lamp.
