What is a good organic remedy for a little Nats ? My sister had said a large spray bottle with a few drop of dawn and a tablespoon of vinegar, however looking on line I don’t know the best choice?
To naturally eliminate gnats, you can create a spray by mixing 3 pumps of dish soap, 2 teaspoons of distilled vinegar, 3 teaspoons of 70% isopropyl alcohol, and water to fill a spray bottle. This solution targets adult gnats and can be sprayed directly onto plants. Additionally, watering plants with a mixture of 3% hydrogen peroxide and water can kill larvae and eggs in the soil. Applying a thin layer of cinnamon powder on the soil surface acts as a natural fungicide, disrupting the gnat life cycle. Regularly monitoring and maintaining these treatments will help control and prevent gnat infestations.
@Hdfoley so fungus nuts are typically a result of moist soil. It can be from overwatering, but since the lifecycle of gnats includes larva, you never know if it’s already in the soil. I use these drops in my watering can. I have dogs, cats and kids. I have over 200 plants and no gnats. I also added a spray I use that helps with fungus. Rather than use cinnamon sticks, I started adding cinnamon oil.
@Hdfoley Once you have gotten rid of the gnats you may want to start bottom watering. Bottom watering can be an effective way to deter gnats. By keeping the topsoil drier, it disrupts the life cycle of gnats, making it less hospitable for them to lay eggs and develop. While it can help reduce gnat populations, it's not a complete solution and may require additional measures for severe infestations.
