Good Morning, Greg Family, I need some serious help. I absolutely L❀️VE #Succulents but I cannot seem to keep them around. My co-worker says they are very easy; and if one of the baby’s break off just leave it in the dirt and it will recover itself. This baby is just giving up! Or maybe I’m not doing something right. Any help would be greatly appreciatedπŸ˜©πŸ’”πŸ™πŸΎ

@ValleyOfErlease that was the other thing I was going to mention! I usually just throw mine in one of my bigger planters of a different plant and let them root, and a baby will start popping out of the old leaf. When the old leaf eventually dies off, you can plant the baby in a teeny tiny terra cotta pot!
How often are you watering and how much of what type of light do they get? I water mine every 3ish weeks, and they’re sitting in a south window that gets a TON of sun. They also look like they’re in a pretty dense soil- they really should be in a super well draining cactus and succulent soil.
@MamaLinne This ^ And I’d like to add they may appreciate being placed in a slightly smaller pot as well. Makes it easier to not accidentally overwater them πŸ™
My echeveria is over 10 years old and I repotted it from a terracotta pot that was about the size of the cup you see in the picture to the pot it is in right now in 2025. It always did fine in that smaller pot.
@MamaLinne I follow the #GregApp w/regard to watering and fertilizing, and keep them under a grow lamp. I have them in front of a southwest facing window, but they don’t get too much sunlight because there are trees in my front yard (I live on the 2nd floor of a duplex). I just watered today for the first time in about two weeks; the soil was bone dry. I took her outside to see if I could get her some more sunlight; maybe I should consider changing the soil 🧐
@LichenQueen I purchased this plant from Target 🎯 along with three other plants that were all in one small pot together. I separated them bc they already looked like they were struggling when I bought them. Two of them I have in smaller pots; maybe I’ll put this one back in a smaller pot.
@ValleyOfErlease sigh- this is the problem with the greg app that I wish they would explain to people when you sign up- it tells you to water wayyyyyy to often. I use the app to track my 165 plants and have β€œtaught” it my watering schedule, but it’s taken almost a year and a half, and still is only right about the watering suggestions about half the time. Good job on the bone dry part- that’s what you should do. I would put it in a smaller pot in cactus/succulent soil. Water thoroughly only when bone dry. Grow lamps are great but only if they’re full spectrum? Sorry if the app has led you astray. Sometimes it tells me to water my cacti every week or two- it’s quite frustrating.
@MamaLinne thank you so very much for this information. I have snoozed the watering a few times on my plants bc I have killed several #Succulents in the past. I’ll make my way to the store to get the right soil and will put her in a smaller pot. What do you recommend I do with the fallen babies?
@MamaLinne thank you so, so muchπŸ₯° Wish me luck (although I don’t really believe in luck per se, my Pastor always says Living Under Christ’s Kindness) …that’s what I need for my babies right now; Christ’s kindness πŸ™πŸΎπŸ₯°πŸͺ΄πŸŒ±
@ValleyOfErlease it’s all just a big fun experiment! Sometimes it goes well, and other times we learn something! πŸͺ΄πŸ’š
