Homemade Leaf Shine: The Eco-Friendly Way to Keep Your Plants Radiant. To make a natural plant leaf shine, mix 1 part white vinegar with 2 parts filtered or rainwater and add 3 drops of olive oil. Shake or stir well. Spray the solution lightly onto the leaves (avoid using on plants with hairy leaves, like African violets). Then, use a clean, soft cloth to gently rub the leaves, bringing out their natural shine.
