It was a big day in NYC, gang! My alocasia scalprum was freed from her soil and transferred to leca semi hydro. I discovered that she had pretty good roots still (didn’t find any rot), there were actually two separate plants stuck together, and there were a few corms! The corms are kind of small; not sure if they are viable but they popped off as I was cleaning the roots. Going to try to root them next.. currently in a shallow tray with water and covered with a cloche. 🀞 #AlocasiaAddicts #AlocasiaScalprum #corms #semihydroponics

@Jho Hi Josh! πŸ‘‹ Those roots look fabulous!! They should do great in Leca! And Corms too?? How exciting! πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘
@princesspitstop thanks Heidi! I feel a little bit like a mad scientist but can’t wait to see how it goes! πŸ€“
@Jho That's awesome lol keep me updated on those Corms! 😁
@Jho Hi Josh. Any updates? I'm planning to transfer mine, but I'm still not sure
@Marcinek hi Marcin! Here’s some pics I just took from my β€œAlocasia corner.” The Scalprum ruminated for a bit while it grew out the water roots, but it popped 3 humongous new leaves about a month or two ago. I use diluted Foliage Focus in every water, and sometimes silica too. The corms have sprouted and have acclimated beautifully to ambient temperature; I started taking the cloche lid off a little more each day, last month, and I think 2 weeks ago I forgot to put the cloche on overnight and realized they did perfect. I was babying them too much. πŸ™‚ Let me know any questions you have - I am definitely not an expert but happy to share my experiences and what I’ve learned.
