This will be my biggest stem yet! I’m running out of patience because it’s been weeks and it’s still growing but not fully unfurling. I can’t wait to see how tall it ends up! #NewGrowth #ZzPlant #HappyPlants
@SmoothHope66 Hi Erin! That is gonna be a big one! How much sun does it get? I can’t find a place that the two I have will be happy! I have tried everything, even in my greenhouse! But they are growing so slowly! Any pointers you can share? Thank you & it is a beautiful ZZ‼️πŸͺ΄πŸŒΊ
@Ponytailmom firstly, it does grow very slowly naturally! I had mine for two years before I actually got any new stems. This plant is 5 years old this summer. I split it into two plants. I have it halfway near a 10watt grow light year round except for summer I’ll sometimes pop it a foot away from my south facing window for a few hours. Humidity ranges 40-60% usually. I’m not super hands on with it; some light here and there, water when it’s bone dry, fertilize it once at the start of summer, and mine like misting sometimes πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ or maybe they don’t care lol, but the misting doesn’t hurt them πŸ˜‚ my least fussy plant besides my snake plants.
@SmoothHope66 THANK YOU‼️
@Ponytailmom @SmoothHope66 I agree I think it has a lot to do with age and how acclimated it has gotten. The first couple of years I had one or two new branches and 2 or 3 smaller branches died back. This year I’ve been getting more growth. I recently moved it to a spot with more bright light than it was getting. But that was too recent to cause this much new growth.
It’s beautiful

Hello Ladies πŸ₯°

I have to agree with everyone’s opinion’s on the ZZ plant.

They are naturally EXTREMELY SLOW growers 🐒

I got this Black Raven February 2025 from a Publix grocery store. I had to repot immediately because it was in a rotten, soaking wet medium. I’m not exactly sure what kind it was in, but now all 3 of my ZZ plants are in Back to the Roots succulent soil!
I had absolutely no growth until about a month ago. It took sooo long, I honestly thought it was dead. Then once it took off, it TOOK OFF! Now it has 3 new shoots.
Because they are low light plants, this one is sitting in a corner in a west facing window. It’s in the corner of my front living room, but the windows are on the covered porch. So it doesn’t ever get direct sunlight. I don’t have grow lights on mine either.
I also have a Chameleon ZZ and a regular ZZ. Both of them are in front of an east facing window. The Chameleon hasn’t put out the first shoot since I bought it in 25’! The regular ZZ has had numerous shoots come up!

So with all of this being said, I’m pretty sure it’s all about acclimation with these plants unfortunately! The longer you have the plant, the better πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™€οΈ
@JenniferNoel lol 🐒 😊 Your ZZ looks gorgeous Jennifer!
