My #AglaonemaMaryAnn is flowering πŸ€—πŸͺ΄πŸŒΈ I know Aglaonema flowers aren’t super pretty, but I’m happy because it means SHE’S happy! 😁πŸ₯‚πŸŒΏπŸ₯³ #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #NewGrowth #FloweringPlants #Aglaonema #ChineseEvergreen #PLANTMAFIA #babevila

@BabeVila She's glowing! 😍😁. Congrats!
@UltraKoreanfir thank you! 😊
@BabyBrownbirch haha I love it
Ahhhh I didn’t know that!πŸ₯Ή I’ve been chopping them offπŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…
@BabyBrownbirch 1.πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ 2. That’s amazing!!πŸ₯Ή
@OwlTrowel that’s okay! It’s really a matter of preference. Most people cut them off, I think. They do take a lot of energy to produce
@OwlTrowel that’s okay because it takes a lot out of the plant to grow those flowers which are β€œsubpar” compared to the leaves. So by cutting the flowers, you are making the plant redirect its energy into growing bigger and vibrant foliage. It is a matter of preference though.
I love aglaonemas, and yours is about as lush and healthy as any I've seen (including ones certain over-priced plant vendors sell!). It's true their flowers aren't much to look at, but as @OrangeGrass said, their gorgeous leaves more than make up for it! I almost killed my Aglaonema cutlass last year (pre-Greg), and after a lengthy rehab period those flowers were the first sign it was in the clear ☺️

So are you another "We the Wild" groupie? Or is there a different product you use for such incredible results? PLEASE SHANNON TELL ME YOUR SECRET!! πŸ™πŸΌπŸ˜‚πŸ˜œ
@BabeVila Whoa! Really? Im still learning about my plants; but do flowers take a lot of energy for all plants or just specific types such as the Aglaonema?οΏΌ
@OwlTrowel it takes a lot of energy from any plant that flowers to produce flowers. But in the case of a plant whose primary function is not to flower, it tends to detract from growing bigger leaves which is why in a plant like an Adlainema the flowers are chopped off to redirect that energy. But again, you don’t have to because it’s just a preference of some people to always want to have big lush leaves.
@OwlTrowel exactly what Dee said! 😊 PSβ€”you have an excel file for your nursery!? That is upping the game!
@stephonicle hahaha I πŸ’š you! I do love the We The Wild Grow Formula and I use it every time I water, but I wasn’t overly wowed by the Enrich powder (to be fair I didn’t use it much yet though so I’ll report back once I’ve given it a fair shake) and I don’t use the Protect spray unless I’m out of Natria insecticidal soap. I tried to like neem, because it has so many fans, but it just doesn’t produce the same results for me and a lot of my plants don’t like it (bad leaf reactions). Plus the smell of neem makes me actually gag πŸ˜‚ But I will use the Grow formula forever! I do credit that with my plants’ health. Plus regular pest inspections to try and catch them early before they do lots of damage, and @RealSimpleMama got me hooked on using ground cinnamon liberally in all my plants to keep away pests and disease. And I use tons of hydrogen peroxide too, but only if they have a root issue and need it. That’s pretty much it! I’m actually really surprised how well my Aglaonema Mary Ann is doing, considering she is in the dimmest spot in the house lol. She’s on the lower tier of a plant stand far away from any windows and the plants above her get most of the grow light. But she seems to love it! She is in the bottom left of this picture. The only plant that gets less light is my jade pothos but they can basically live in the dark lol!
@OrangeGrass @stephonicle @OwlTrowel you may be interested to see this… my BABY Aglaonema pictum tricolor, which I got on sale at Gabriella Plants (ride or die for that nursery!) for $25, only has 6 leaves, only 2 of which are really colored like a pictum tricolor should be, also has not one, but two flowers. I’m honestly a bit put off by this because I want more leaves! πŸ˜‚ But as it’s a sign she is happy, I can’t be too mad. But I’ve been waiting impatiently for them to bloom so I can get more leaves. I considered snipping but @LittleSongbird told me Aglaonemas are especially susceptible to infection if they get a wound, so I’m letting them be. Impatiently! 🀣
@BabeVila Yep! It’s a lil out of date but I have the plant, genus, sunlight needed, soil type from my soil inventory, fertilizer needs, and pH of the soil,(if I can find the info)
@OwlTrowel That is so organized! I am making a binder with a page for each plant, because I am not technologically inclined, and I just like physical things, but I love the idea of having a spreadsheet! That is really cool πŸ€—
I like that!!! I might do that when I’m feeling in the mode to sketch
@BabeVila That’s great! It’s a sign that you’ve been taking good care of it. And lol, the struggle is real, huh? Those two new leaves on that baby plant look gorgeous though, so I wouldn’t be mad at her πŸ˜‚πŸ’š
The miracle of plants is a thing to behold πŸ₯°
So adorable she is happy I love to see there blooms πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ€πŸ€
