Dealing with spider mites on Alocasia

Sigh... #spidermites

Just love when these guys visit my beloved plants (not), but good teaching/learning opportunity for everyone!

These three leaves were promptly cut off to remove most of the infestation, sprayed with eco oil all over and nearby plants also treated. They then need to be treated every few days to break the breeding cycle. Keep treating until it looks like they are gone for at least a week to ensure they don't come back. Also keep any eye on your other plants anywhere in the vicinity. spider mites are good hitchhikers. Only takes them to ride on your clothes or a pet to transfer to plants further away!

Once you spot spider mites, you have to act fast to save your plants. In these photos you can see their fine webbing, the spider mites (red dots) and all their eggs (smaller white dots)

I hate these buggers πŸ™ƒ they’ve killed all five of my English ivy. Granted, they came from my work place and they were all infested for a long time so they were too far gone 😭
