I personally LOVE string of pearls! But they can be finicky. My best advice is to bottom water!! Pot your string of pearls in a container with plenty of bottom drainage holes and then when it’s time to to water set it in another larger cup of water and let it absorb water from the bottom. This is how I keep my pearls alive!

*This plant sits obstinately on a shelf under a grow light in my west-facing plant room. I water it ever so carefully when Greg tells me to water it.*
I was enraptured by images of this plant sitting elegantly on a shelf or hanging in the perfect basket in front of a sunny window. I got the plant. I placed it in a precise location in my east-facing dining room ... it died. I got another one and placed it in a south facing window ... it died. West-facing window - dead. Sheesh! This is one of the pickiest plants I've ever had.
If you give it too much water, it dies. If you don't give it enough water, it dies. If you give it too much sun, it dies. It it doesn't get enough sun, it dies. Ask me how I know: this is my sixth and FINAL try for this plant.
This plant has brought me only angst and unhappiness. I don't want a plant that demands that I keep it under a grow light at all times. This plant is the bane of my existence. It's survival of the fittest in my house.
As soon as this plant dies, I'm getting the faux version. The faux version looks so real and amazing and it spills daintily over its pot. It will cost me $46 but that is MUCH LESS than what I've already paid for this plant. Then I can be happy.

It was one of the first plants I bought when I got into plantkeeping, and based on what other’s had said about it, I was terrified I was going to kill it.
But it’s been one of my easiest keepers this entire time! I water once a week, from the top! It sits beside my windowsill, on a stool, and pops out new growth all the time. It’s super easy to propagate, too. It seems to be very forgiving of my early plantkeeping mistakes, and even now if I miss a day to water it. I’ve never even gotten close to having a nearly-dying scare with it, I never have to worry about this plant. ❤️

I have had my SOP for about a year and it has quadrupled in size during that time! I got her in a 3 in pot and now she has grown into a 6 in pot. I kept her in a (frosted) west window. At first, I only bottom watered, but now I water normally and I haven’t noticed a change in behavior/growth from it. With bright light, this plant will GO WILD and grow like crazy. If you don’t eater it enough, pearls will start to shrivel/dry up. Honestly, one of my easiest plants, and it’s a beauty. Only thing to keep in mind is that the strands are delicate and tangle easily. If you are reporting/moving it around, you should flip them all up on top of the pot to save yourself some lost pearls.
